My greatest connection to the book is the immigration theme. When I was 4 years old, my family decided to move to Australia for a better life and to get away from the government like Jamal and his family.
Since I was so young, it didn’t really have such a big impact on me. As a family we all supported each other like Jamal’s parents did with Bibi. I had mixed emotions when moving the country because I knew it was what’s best for our family and a much safer option then what we were going through in our old country.
